Before sunrise, the Forest Falcon calls to its mate from the cave in the cenote. The call crosses the recovering canopy and lands somewhere in your chest—a clear, laughing sound that makes you smile before you are fully awake.
Ten years ago, this was a dead cattle ranch. Compacted red soil, invasive grasses, no native canopy, no soil biology, no wildlife. The cenote was there, but nothing was nesting in it.
That call is the restoration reporting itself.
"The Earth can recover. The work is learnable.
You don't have to be an expert to begin —
only willing to pay attention."
This is what Planet Healers is for: sharing the knowledge, the practice, and the presence that make ecological restoration something ordinary people can do, wherever they are.
The Planet Healer Path
A five-stage journey from first awakening to deep practice. Wherever you are, there is a next step.
STAGE ONE
Awakening
The grief and the love arrive together.
Something stirs when you read about what is being lost — and what could return.
STAGE TWO
Ecological Literacy
Learning to read the land.
The soil tests, the succession stages, and the species. Understanding what you are looking at.
STAGE THREE
Restoration Practice
Doing the work on real land. Planting, propagating, and monitoring.
The knowledge becomes embodied.
STAGE FOUR
Teaching
Transmitting what the land has taught you.
Designing workshops, mentoring others, building community.
STAGE FIVE
Building
Creating something that outlasts you.
An institution, a reserve, a community of practice.
Three Ways to Walk With Us
TSUNUL RESERVE · YUCATÁN, MÉXICO
Ten years of proof in 39 hectares
In 2015, this was a compacted cattle ranch—red soil, invasive grasses, and no native canopy.
Today, it is a recovering tropical dry forest with documented populations of ocelot, coati, grizon, and the near-threatened Ocellated Turkey, present every morning of every month. The cenote holds five rare endemic species found nowhere else on Earth.
The soil organic matter in the food forest has risen significantly. The Collard Forest Falcon is nesting in the cave above the underground water. So many forest birds are here.
This is what restoration looks like when you stay with it.
39 ha · Biological Reserve
10 yrs · Active Restoration
60+ · Native Species Planted
5 · Endemic Cenote Species

"Hello Paul, I am half way through your Ecosystem Restoration Module on the SFW and just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying it. I am a vet by profession, but am also studying soil and its connection to health, as in: no soil no health. Your course is wonderful , your knowledge exquisite and your manners absolutely delightful. I do appreciate your gentle approach. All the best and thank you" - Introduction to Ecosystems Restoration Course

"Paul and Sofia……I’m trying my best not to write a novel in this shared space lol. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The reason this experience was so magical is because you decided to open your home to a group loud strangers. But the way you all went above and beyond to make us feel at home within your home is something I will never forget. If there’s one thing that resonates the most from this experience for me is that the universe blessed me with the opportunity not only to learn in peace amongst likeminded individuals, but also I was just able to receive. Both of those things mean more to me than I’d ever be able to convey. Thank you for giving me a safe, kind, and compassionate space to learn. Thank you caring enough to make me feel as if everything personal to me matters. Thank you for seeing me and believing in all us. Thank you for listening with the intention to understand and spread love. In all the things you gave to me, it has only made me want to give back to you both one hundred fold. In way I can help, I would love to. The two of you deserve absolutely every blessing coming your way, and I hope it transcends to your family as well. Sofia, thank you for reminding me that home is real, and I’m not crazy. Star seeds do exist.
Thank you all for answering the call. Thank you for the lives you live, and the experiences it took for you to get where you all are. I learned so much, and still cannot believe just how beautiful the experience was." — Fundamentals Field Intensive participant
