A truly unique shrub! It is the only member of the Custard-apple family found in in Canada. It has maroon 3-petaled flowers before the leaves in spring. Up to 30cm long leaves droop from gracefully arching grey branches. The potato-sized fruit has delicious yellow to orange pudding-like flesh.
