One of my favorites! The enclosed bright blue flower is a challenge for bumble bees to pollinate. One of the last flowers to bloom in the fall adding vivid colour to the garden as other plants die back.

Other traits: Medicinal, Herbal, Bottle Gentian has bottle shaped blooms that do not open, only strong and very determined bees and hummingbirds are able to penetrate it's blooms for pollination. Many Gentian species are used as a tea to stimulate digestion and have also been used in brewing and making liquers.
