Other traits: Wildlife, Dye plant, Goldenrod has been wrongly blamed for causing hay fever, their pollen doesn't normally travel far as it is heavy and sticky by nature. Ragweed is the real troublemaker. Goldenrods are an important source of nectar and pollen for bees, various insects and migrating butterflies in the fall. It also provides shelter and food for many songbirds and small mammals. Flowers are great for fresh cut arrangements and are used to make yellow dye.
